Why is there no treatment at Sober Living Houses?
At Boca House for Men, the focus is learning to reintegrate into society without the use of substances. Here, men of all levels of sobriety (off drugs and alcohol) learn from each other how to face challenges, handle emotions, and learn self-discipline and responsibility to one’s self and others. A focus of this nature requires that a man be clean of drugs, have an understanding of addiction, relapse prevention, triggers, and the desire to live in sobriety. The foundation for living a clean and sober life happens in this phase of recovery and is reinforced in a men’s sober living community. Attendance at meetings, both off and on the premise continues, mentorship begins, work, school and/or volunteering are required.
There are differences between levels of early recovery. Those in PHP, IOP, or OP are not at the same place as men who have graduated from the initial levels of substance abuse treatment. Learning to live without drugs and alcohol can be successfully accomplished. The reality of a sober living community for men is that everyone has completed treatment and is ready to engage life again.
Boca House for Men, a community of sober men, is sensitive to the ups and downs of early recovery and the challenges that face newly sober men. If a resident feels vulnerable counseling can be arranged. Should relapse occur, Boca House has an affiliate program with Treatment Alternatives a quality dual diagnosis substance abuse treatment program. Options for treatment and living arrangements can be arranged, but one cannot continue to live at a sober living home without being 100% clean and sober.
